The why
Why solar panels on Oahu get dirty fast
Living on an island has a lot going for it, but it's rough on solar panels. The trade winds carry salt in off the ocean and leave it on the glass. Dust and red dirt blow up from the road and the yard. Trees drop leaves and pollen, and birds love a warm, flat roof. Put it all together and you get a dull, brownish film, the kind you can see in our before photos.
Rain helps, but it doesn't always do the job. A light shower can turn dust into a muddy film instead of washing it away, and panels on flat or low pitch roofs don't shed water well at all. That's where we come in.

The glass on every panel
We clean the face of each panel in the array, edge to edge, so the whole surface is clear and not just the middle.
The edges and frames
Grime likes to collect where the glass meets the frame. We work those edges too, since that's where the film builds up first.
Flat roofs and tile roofs
Our photos show both: a flat roof home with rows of panels on racks, and a metal tile roof with the panels set close to the roof. We're used to working on either one.

How often should my solar panels be cleaned?
It depends on where you live and what's around your roof. Homes close to the ocean, a dirt road, or a lot of trees tend to get dirty faster. If you can see a film or spots on the glass, it's a good time. Ask us and we'll tell you what we see on your roof.
Will rain clean my panels for me?
Sometimes, a little. Heavy rain can knock off loose dust, but a light shower often turns it into a muddy film, and salt and droppings tend to stay put. Flat and low pitch roofs don't drain well, so the grime just sits there.
How much does solar panel cleaning cost?
It depends on how many panels you have, what kind of roof they're on, and how easy they are to reach. Send the form or call and we'll give you a price for your home.
Do you clean panels on flat roofs and tile roofs?
Yes. Our photos on this site come from both, a flat roof home with racked panel rows and a metal tile roof. Got something different? Call and tell us about it.
Do you repair or install solar panels?
No. We're a cleaning business. If your system has a problem or isn't producing like it should, call your installer or a licensed solar contractor. If your panels just need cleaning, that's us.
Should I check anything before I book?
It's a good idea to look at your panel maker's care instructions so you know what they recommend. If you have a monitoring app, it's also nice to note your numbers before and after a cleaning.
